Paper trim and related printed marketing pieces have become an essential aspect of creating retail appeal for jeans, underwear and many other garments. Common Styles and Shapes
Modern printing techniques allow a vast array of different shapes and styles of paper trim, all intended to be removed by the consumer after purchase. Here are the most common items that Talon International manufactures:
HANG TAG Attached to the garment with a string or plastic swift tack, hang tags display your brand's graphic identity and may also include sizing, product information and other marketing concepts. Most dresses, shirts and jackets use hangtags. They're also ideal for communicating the special high-tech materials featured in modern sportswear and even footwear. Square or rectangular hangtags are the most economical to produce -and therefore the most common-but with die-cutting techniques we can achieve just about any unique shape imaginable.
POCKET FLASHER A large die-cut piece, the pocket flasher features a fold-over tab that usually tucks inside the back pocket of jeans and other casual bottoms or shorts. Most often attached with a staple gun or bar tack machine, the pocket flasher provides a good surface for your brand identity, essential for attracting attention in the retail environment. When designing your pocket flasher, it's a good idea to make it slighter smaller than the pocket so it does not hide important detail on the pocket that might attract the consumer-(including stitching, rivets, etc.)
LEG STICKER Sometimes referred to as a size strip, the leg sticker features a self-adhesive back allowing it to be easily attached to the front leg of jeans and other pants. It's a convenient way to show the size of the waist and inseam for the consumer and store personnel when folded and stacked in the retail environment. Manufactured with both paper and vinyl materials, leg stickers are designed to fold with the garment without taking on a crease or other damage. Their acrylic-based adhesive is safe for most garments, and any residue will be removed by the consumer's first home wash. (However, it's a good idea to test leg stickers on the fabric you're using before final manufacturing. Talon International can provide appropriate samples for testing as needed.)
SIZE JOKER Also known as a waistband joker, this piece is used to show the size for pants and shorts, and is typically stapled to the waistline of the garment. This item sometimes includes the variable SKU information including barcode and price in place of a separate price ticket. EMBROIDERY Often printed on a perforated strip at the bottom of the tag so that retailers can remove easily if needed.
